Throughout New Zealand and particularly in the North Island there is excellent fishing to found throughout the year if you know where to look. Although the principle fishing season in New Zealand is during the warmer months from October to April, wherever you are you will not be far from some water open to anglers during the winter. What is more, many of these lakes and rivers fish as well or even better than they do during the summer season. So do not make the mistake of hanging up your rods and waders because the weather has become a bit cooler. Take a look at what is available and set out to explore the numerous waters that are open. You will be surprised at both the quantity and quality of the fishing available to you.
